Departments

Admin → Departments is the org chart: the stage managers, the lighting department, wardrobe. A department is technically a group of its own kind, but is managed here — with a name, description, parent department for the hierarchy, and sort order.

Departments are used throughout:

• Home department on people — shown in the people list.
• Department tag on production roles and participants.
• With the GrandPlanner module on: the unit events call in, and that the feasibility engine calculates staffing and buffers against — and department heads are an approver role in the approval matrix.

Departments are archived when wound down; deleting one moves its sub-departments to top level and detaches its role links rather than cascading.
