Pay Codes

Pay Codes are the targets worked time lands on. Your agreement rules decide what counts as what, and the result is emitted onto a pay code — ordinary time, overtime, allowances, call-outs.

Without pay codes the rules have nothing to point at. If you came from a seeded pack, the standard set already exists.

  • Key — the short, stable identifier the rules refer to.
  • Name — the human-readable name in lists and exports.
  • UnitMinutes for time, Occurrences for things counted in number rather than duration.
  • External code — the code your payroll system recognises, when one is connected.
  • Sort order — where it sits in the lists.

Minutes are for worked time: the rules total duration, and the figures show as h:mm. Occurrences are for what a situation triggers rather than what time accrues — a call-out allowance happens once however long it ran, and shows as ×count.

If a pay code is missing from the catalog when a period is locked, the payroll period tells you which codes were missing, and their minutes are not materialised.
