Project templates

Project templates under Admin → Project templates decide what a new project starts with: the feature grid (which tabs are on), lifecycle, fiscal cycle, and whether hours are billable by default. When someone picks the template at creation, the setup is copied onto the project — later changes to the template don’t affect existing projects.

Built-in and custom templates

The five built-in templates are read-only and show how many projects use them. Need a variant? Use Clone to editable copy — the clone lands under your organisation’s own templates and can be edited freely.

Custom templates are created with a key, name, and description, and start with every feature off. Turn on what the template should deliver, set lifecycle and billing, and save.

Deleting detaches, doesn't destroy

If you delete a custom template that’s in use, its projects keep their setup — they only lose the link to the template.

The Custom template has a special role: projects created with it inherit the organisation’s feature defaults instead of the template’s own grid.
